Glamour Puss

One of the toys we’ve recently unpacked, was a pack of make-up Honor got for Christmas awhile back. We’ve added and subtracted to it here and there, and she continues to have fun with it.

Often the makeup ends up everywhere except the face…

Some days, it gets everywhere…

Including on the cat. Although he cannot complain… he self-applied! Pumpkin came up and rolled in the glitter and things – he just had to be in on it, even if he had no clue what we were doing.

I have to say that, for what ever little bit we originally paid for this kit, we’ve got a lot of girl (and cat) bonding out of it… and numerous manicures! (for the girls, not the cat! He’s very patient, but I think that even Pumpkin would draw the line at smelly nail polish!)

Ahhh, your kitty is so cute! I can only imagine what Axe Murderer would do to me if I tried to give her a manicure... she's bad enough when I cut her claws.

Aww!! Looks like Honor had fun. Pumpkin, too. What a beautiful kitty! He is Middle Eastern, correct? I've seen a few Middle Eastern cats and they all have the same "look" to their faces.

Hi Rebecca, yes, these guys are home-grown, garden picked, Jordanian feral cats. Although, I ran into a local man at the vet the other day who asked where I got them, so I wonder... ?? Anyway, I am used to the longer faced kitties, because our Siamese had the long face (vs. the rounder 'apple' face we see more often in the US). To me, Pumpkin looks somewhat Lynx-ish. His markings, ear fur (which is an Abyssinian trait!), big paws etc... it all says 'wild cat' to me, except for his pretty fluffy tail :D Ninja and Pixie have the (to me, I'm no expert...) classic Abysinnian look, especially Pixie! Her fur is mostly ticked, but they have tabby markings, so they aren't completely 'pure breed'. AFter doing some reading though, I'm learning that they really match the personality traits that Abyssinians are supposed to have (according to wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abyssinian_%28cat%29). I'm laughing now after reading this on a page about the breed (and yes, Ninja and Pixie look like this - http://www.cfa.org/breeds/profiles/abyssinian.html - but with some tabby markings) "As described in the Abyssinian Breeders International "Kitten Buyer's Guide" by Carolyn Osier, "Abyssinians must be one of the most intelligent animals ever created." This handbook for the potential Aby owner describes these cats as "...a very people-oriented cat. Not a lap cat... but a cat that likes to be with people, a cat that wants to know what you are doing - that wants to help. There is probably no breed anywhere more loyal than the Aby. Once you have acquired an Aby as a companion, you will never be able to complain that no one understands you. Abys are very good at training people to do just what they want them to do." (I just finished washing the dishes with 3 cats 'helping' :D !)
