Caring for our kitty

We are missing our Misty cat...

...but we are coping as best as we can.

Misty's 'brother' misses him too and has been very demanding of extra love, attention, snuggling and playtime. The first couple of days after we lost Misty, Ramzi needed ALL of our attention, ALL of the time. He followed us everywhere and was awake most of the day... he's usually napping most of the time as he's an old kitty. He had to keep an eye on us I suppose. Make extra sure that we didn't leave him too. He's feeling a bit better now though, more reassured, and back into his routine of sleeping most of the day when the kids are out, although he is still being extra cuddly in the evenings when everyone gets home from school and work.

I'm doing a lot of 'hand/paw' holding:
Ignore the mess of boxes, please! We are preparing to move.

We got the cat carrier out to clean it up and get the cat used to it. He was actually very happy with his new fort. Especially when Honor got home from school, fixed it up for him, and played in it with him.
Ramzi trying to get in while Honor is trying to explain that she isn't done fixing it yet.
Mine!
Hey! Whose fort is this anyway?

Move over and let me in!

And yes, kid and cat both fit happily in the carrier together. Goofers. I am glad they have each other.

oh no! Losing a pet is so much harder than it looks! I hope everything works out well in your family and Im sad to hear of you losing your pet.

On a brighter note, have a good move. Change is not always bad and a move is usually good for all lol!

we have a cat too. sometimes i get so frustrated with her when she's meowing in the middle of the night. but then i look at her and my heart melts, and i can't imagine being without her. as long as you remember all the good your cat did and the memories will stay with you forever!!!

Oh, so sad! Kitty, come home. I hope you and your family are able to reunite with Misty before the big move.

I have to tell you, though, that the picture of Honor in the cat box totally made me laugh. *Goofers* is the best description ever for that one.

First back to the US for a bit, then on. I'm not ready to post it yet... superstitious. Afraid if I say it, it won't happen :) Soon!

Charlie was nearly 21 in people years when she passed away last year. She had lived on the farm with my mum since we left NZ 5 years previous but she was still very much our cat. I still tear up thinking about her-she had been a part of us since before we had the boys. My heart goes out to you guys and poor Ramzi too!

Glad to know you didn't post it. I wondered how I missed it. Just thought the baby made me more self-involved than I realized.
